Detroit Community

Detroit Tigers All-Star pitcher Justin Verlander's Wins for Warriors foundation has committed funds to Give an Hour to launch an initiative that supports the mental health and emotional well-being of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their loved ones. Give an Hour is active in the Metro Detroit area to accomplish three missions:

  1. Increase the usage of the Give an Hour free and confidential mental health services among Post-9/11 service members, veterans, and their loved ones,
  2. Recruit additional licensed volunteer mental health professionals to offer free mental health services, and
  3. Assist in the coordination of community-based efforts to create a comprehensive and integrated system of care for service members, Veterans, and their loved ones.

Through our partnership with the Region 10 Veterans Community Action Team (VCAT), we hope to reduce the stigma of mental health care, and increase collaboration and engagement with the Veteran community.
